Advanced technology chosen for passion fruit concentrate
Christopher Hinson, our lead technical consultant for food processing, has identified effectiuve new technology for producing 45 Brix concentrate without recourse to aroma recovery. Exciting news is the significant savings on energy inputs over evaporative technology, as well as enhanced product quality and acceptability. Pioneers of the approach claim a price for concentrate at around $7000 mt, 45% over conventional product pricing. Our cash flow projections show a high rate of return for evaporator technology and with a certain market for conventional, organic and fair trade it is clear that if the donor community wants pro-poor business development on a sustainable fair trade basis we have the plan for their investments. Our contacts overseas report a ready market for a minimum of 2000 mt of concentrate and that translates into a potential income of about $571 yr for 20,000 farmers, just from this one crop grown on a small parcel of land. Lets go for it now.
